Red Dead Redemption 2 is hands-down the best-looking game on PS4 and Xbox One. But it'll look even better on PC.

Today Rockstar showed a batch of 4K Red Dead Redemption 2 screenshots that illustrate the kind of eye-popping visuals we can expect on PC. There's impressive lighting, illumination, and ambient fog effects that're sure to push your PC to the max, complete immensely detailed clothing textures, facial expressions, environments (that water is incredible), and just about everything else. If you can see it, it'll look amazing on PC.

Rockstar isn't playing around with PC optimizations. The devs say Red Dead Redemption 2 will be the "ultimate version of Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang's open world epic," complete with high-level tweaks and enhancements to push enthusiast hardware to its limit. The game will support higher FPS, HDR and resolutions in 4K and beyond, with UltraWide and multi-monitor configurations also supported.

As Rockstar explains:

New graphical and technical enhancements for deeper immersion include:

  • Increased draw distances for better navigation
  • Higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for improved day and night lighting
  • Higher quality snow trails, improved reflections and deeper, higher resolution shadows at all distances
  • Tessellated tree textures and improved grass and fur textures for added realism in every plant and animal

Red Dead Redemption 2 will support the other end of the hardware spectrum, too.

The game's PC spec requirements are pretty lenient so players with lower-end rigs can still play, albeit likely at 720p or maybe even 1080p with Low settings.

Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC now available for pre-order on the Rockstar Games Launcher. Pre-ordering right from Rockstar gets you two free classic games from a selection that includes GTA III, Vice City, and a few others.

Pre-orders will go live on other storefronts like the Epic Games Store and Steam on October 16.

The game will launch first on the Epic Games Store and the Rockstar Launcher on November 5, and the Steam version will come sometime in December.
