After a brief hiatus, Lexar is back now part of Longsys rather than Micron but still producing high-quality flash memory solutions. As they ramp up their portfolio, they have introduced a new higher capacity SD solution reaching 1TB.
Over the years, we have seen quite a few Lexar memory cards, SSDs and flash drives come through. In fact, some of my favorite flash drives were the JumpDrive Triton and P series. Moving into this latest solution, Lexar is focused on offering top to bottom solution for your needs. With the increase in capacity of the Professional SDXC, they now offer 16GB to 1TB of storage capacity with performance reaching up to 95 MB/s read, and 70 MB/s write.
These cards enjoy UHS-I Speed Class 3 certification along with Class 10 and Video Class 30 certs. MSRP for the 1TB Lexar Professional SDXC sits at $399.99 with a lifetime warranty.
The Professional series has always come in a cardboard and plastic retainer; this hasn't changed with the 1TB model. On the front, we have capacity listed at the top right and speed along the bottom.
The card shares that SD form factor, gold on black colorway we are used to with Lexar Professional products. All of the speed classes are listed on the card itself along with capacity and branding.
On the backside, we have printed regulatory info and model number and the 9pin setup that SD card use.
Looking at the performance, I started with DST. Here we saw 90 MB/s read and 71 MB/s write.
Moving over to CDM, we found 93 MB/s read and 62 MB/s write.
Closing out this short review, it's good to see Lexar back and with a bang adding a 1TB SDXC to their lineup. Looking around the market it appears they may be the first with both SanDisk and Samsung holding fast at 512GB. That said, we know it won't be long before the market catches up and 1TB will be a common capacity.
Build quality is top notch and as expected for an SDXC solution. The plastic card is help together tightly with welded joins, and the locking mechanism moves freely. As for performance, we were able to reach marketing specifications with 90 MB/s read and 71 MB/s write-in DST, and that was solidified with CDM reaching 93 MB/s read and 62 MB/s write.
With all of that out of the way, we can get to pricing where you will get a bit of sticker shock as the 1TB Lexar Professional MSRP's at $399. Of course, this is early adopter pricing as it will surely come down as we get more players in this market, but for now anyone wanting this massive capacity SD solution can grab it today!
